Red Dead Redemption 2 is an eagerly awaited Western-themed action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar Games, who are the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series. The game is praised for its attention to detail and storyline.
The game is set to release 26/10/2018.
1] About the game
America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.
After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
2] Big files for a detailed game
Red Dead Redemption 2 requires 107 gigabytes of installation space on the Xbox One and 99GB on the PS4 (playstation 4) with an extra 50GB required for installation, the studio has said – that makes the game the biggest PS4 download ever.
3] Attention to detail
The detail that has inevitably caught everybody’s attention is that apparently when the weather is cold, a certain part of the horse’s anatomy can be seen to shrink.
Like in Grand Theft Auto, the weather conditions and even interactions between the 200 species of in-game wildlife are auto-generated, and each item held by the main character, Arthur Morgan, is individually rendered so it moves in its own right as he rides on his horse.
4] Horses stay dead
In Red Dead Redemption 2, if your horse dies, it stays dead – not pretend death. They don’t come back to life, they are completely dead.
5] Took hours of work
Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser praised staff for working 100-hour weeks to get Red Dead Redemption 2 finished. It had already missed two previous launch dates – Autumn 2017 and Spring 2018 – because it wasn’t ready.
6] Total gameplay time
Dan Houser told Vulture magazine that the 60-hour story mode was shortened from 65 hours in the edit by abandoning a love interest. Experiencing everything Grand Theft Auto V has to offer can take more than 100 hours.
