Philippe Coutinho is reportedly going to Barcelona this week for the fee of €100m (£90m). Negotiations between the two clubs are said to be in the final stretch and the deal could be completed by Tuesday (08/08/17). Coutinho would then travel to Barcelona for a medical, having agreed a five-year deal. It is reported that Coutinho did not play in the friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday to avoid suffering an injury before the move. This comes as Neymar moves from Barcelona to PSG. Reports in Spain have claimed that representatives from Barcelona have travelled to England three times to meet with Coutinho’s representatives. Liverpool are still hopeful Coutinho will remain at the club and manager Jurgen Klopp is under absolutely no obligation to sell.
“It would be extremely difficult, almost impossible, to replace Coutinho with a like-for-like player in terms of skills and knowledge of the Premier League,” Comolli admitted on talkSPORT.
“I don’t think Liverpool can afford to sell him…but if they actually want to keep the player, I think they can say ‘no’.[image from youtube]
