Serves 4 people

Prep time 15-25 mins

Cooking 25-40 mins (keep checking to see if crumble is a nice brown)

Filling

  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced into slices or small chunks
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar sprinkled over the top
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tsp (tea spoon) cinnamon

Crumble

  • 150g plain flour
  • 25g oats
  • 1 tsp (tea spoon) cinnamon
  • 110g sugar
  • 110g cold butter

Directions

Preheat the your oven to 190C/170 fan/gas 5.

Once you have the apple peeled and cored slice them up or cut them into chunks. Place them in the bottom of your baking dish (make sure it is big enough and wide enough to spread apples out evenly) and add the sugar, orange juice and cinnamon into the dish and mix all together. If you would like softer apples then place them into a pot with the orange juice, cinnamon and sugar, then mix together. Cook them over a stove (hob) until they are soft and then place them into a baking dish.

Then put the flour, oats, cinnamon and sugar into a bowl. You can melt the butter in a microwave till it starts to melt and then add it into the mixture and mix together, it makes things easier. Or add the butter and rub it in with your fingertips until all is mixed in.

Pour the crumb mix over the apples and spread out evenly. Then put it in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples feel very soft. If you did not cook the apples over the stove (hob) then make sure they are cooked to how you want them. Leave to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
