6 things about the new Audi Q8 you need to know

Audi have released their new luxury SUV called the Audi Q8 (made for Kuwait?! lol) that is steeped in luxury and good looks. The Q8’s mission is to combine the elegance of a luxury coupé with the comfort, convenience and versatility of a large SUV. The huge octagonal grille looks like a wide mouth that can eat up the road with the choice of engines and the narrow angled Matrix LED headlights make the car look aggressive. The contours on the bonnet and sides of the car give the car a clean look. The sloping roof is something I am not a big fan of as it reduces vertical space in the boot. The rear of the car is very modern with the connected tail lights and twin exhausts (even though they are fake).

6] The flat rear looks great and when you lock and unlock the car the rear lights dance, which is a cool feature to add. Overall the Q8 has a nice shape looking very modern.

5] Only one engine is available for the Q8 this year and thats Audi’s 282bhp 3.0-litre ‘50 TDI’ diesel. A 228bhp 45 TDI V6 diesel and 335bhp 55 TFSI V6 turbo petrol will be offered next year.

4] Audi’s interior is very luxurious and well built – everything is made with good quality materials including the dashboard and centre console. On the dash is a dual-screen infotainment system that’s shared with the Audi A8 saloon. You can control all of the car’s onboard functions, from the temperature of the climate control to the colour of the customisable mood lighting. There’s also a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display in front of the steering wheel that replaces conventional analogue dials.

Through the central 10.1-inch dashboard display you’ll control all the settings for the built-in sat-nav system, the stereo and the settings for the car’s adjustable air suspension. The menus are easy navigate and well laid out. Below this display, you’ll find a smaller 8.6-inch screen that controls the Q8’s climate control. You also get the Audi Phonebox feature as standard that wirelessly charges your compatible smartphone, as well as boosting its signal using the car’s built-in aerial. Unfortunately, the seriously impressive Bang & Olufsen stereo upgrade is only available in top-spec Vorsprung models, or as part of the expensive Comfort and Sound pack.

3] Audi Q8‘s door bins are all big enough to hold a 1.5-litre bottle and there’s space in the glovebox for two extra 1.0-litre bottles. You get a tray in the centre console for storing your phone that also comes with a wireless charging feature. The two cupholders in the front are useful and can hold your coffee cups with ease. There is a 605-litre boot capacity but with the sloping roof it is hard to but a suitcase in vertically.

2] The 3.0-litre V6 produces 286hp, which can do 0-62mph in just 6.3 seconds. Audi claims it’ll return 41.5mpg but some managed 40mpg out of town and comfortably more than 30mpg in heavy traffic.

1] The New beautiful Audi Q8 is priced from £63,745 – £81,745. This is one impressive car and one that was needed in the market today. Well done Audi.
