5 methods to help you stick to your new year resolutions

how to stick to new year resolutions

It’s very easy to make New Year’s resolutions and we make them with a vision in our minds of us already having achieved the results, but most of us are more familiar with the difficulty of sticking to the resolutions and actually achieving them. It is very possible to achieve them but it does take focus, planning, and a determination to stick with the resolutions for the same amount of time it takes to change a habit, so that the resolutions also turn into new habits.

To actually stick to these New year’s resolutions we need to make sure we write down our goals and achieve them. How do we go about doing that.

1] To achieve any goal we need to write it down

Writing down a goal makes you serious about wanting it and when you write it down and look at it everyday, you want to make sure you achieve it. So make sure you write down your goals and look at them every day, once you achieve them write down some more goals.

2] Break these goals down

Make sure you write down smaller steps in order to achieve your overall goal. So if you want the perfect body in time for summer you need to write down days and times your going to go to the gym, then what muscle groups your going to work on, what exercise’s your going to do to build those groups, what your going to eat, how your going to cook and the like. This will then give you a structure and framework in order to achieve your goals.

3] Do not set too many goals

Try not to set too many goals, ask yourself is it possible to achieve all of them. Look at the above and all the work you have to do to achieve one goal, how about 3 goals or 10 goals. So make sure everything is achievable and can fit in with your daily schedule. You will feel happy and satisfied when you achieve the goals you set. Set the right number of goals and make the load easy to carry that way you will achieve your goals.

There will be days where you will feel like not doing anything and you will say forget it, its only one day. That is the time you need to make sure you do your tasks set for the day. One day off turns into 2, then 3 then you forget the goal altogether. Make sure you fight off the laziness and thoughts that turn you away from your goal, you will thank us later. When you look at your progress after consistent effort over a period of time you will be amazed at what you can achieve. This is just advice it is up to you to get up and make sure you achieve your goals, nobody is going to do them for you. JUST GET UP AND DO IT!!

5] Take it step by step

Do not look at all the days you have to work out or the overall difficulty, take each day as it comes otherwise you will give up. Take it step by step, it will make the load of the goal easier to carry. Never look at the whole mountain you want to climb as it is too daunting, step by step you will make progress and before you know it you will be at the top. Step by step is key otherwise you may leave the goal altogether.

If you need moral support ask your friends with common goals to join you on the journey. Most importantly make sure you TREAT YOURSELF when you achieve you weekly goals. Look after yourselves and make sure you respect yourselves so celebrate your small victories and when you reach your goal make sure you spoil yourself. You deserve it.
